WIAW
World Iron Awareness Week (WIAW), took place on 14 - 20 October, sharing the significant role meat plays in helping combat iron deficiency, the most common nutrient deficiency globally. This year, WIAW expanded its reach in terms of global social media and mainstream media pick-up, successfully emphasising the positive effects of meat on iron levels, particularly for those groups at higher risk of deficiency. It was great to see a load of content coming out on mainstream media, stakeholder updates and social channels. We’ve compiled a wrap of activity in the report and via our blog this month (page 6)

In a recent ruling, the European Court of Justice overturned a French decree, ruling that it would violate EU laws and allowing the continued use of ‘meaty’ terms for plant-based products as long as they are not misleading to consumers. The case will now be returned to the Council of State for a final decision. GMA have covered the changes this month (page 3) and dedicated a full summary to the topic elsewhere on our website here.

As always, if you have anyother feedback or questions on any of the content, please also feel free to connect with either of us.
